Flutter-By Butterfly Craft Activity
You Will Need:
-
Tissue Paper
-
A Pipe Cleaner (APX 7cm)
-
Small Paint Brush (optional)
-
Dye or Food Colouring (optional)
-
A Cup of Brush Rinsing Water
-
Scissors
Step 1.
Cut two tissue paper squares,
one larger than the other,
at approximately 10 cm square
and 7cm square
Step 2.
Fold both squares diagonally. (If not using dye, go to step 3.)
Paint desired pattern with dye. Wash brush between colours.
(Tip: If the dye does not soak all the way through to the next layer, turn paper over and lightly brush with a water only brush.)
Step 3.
Open square to dry. When dry, fold with ‘fan’ folds in the opposite direction of the first fold, so the mirror print is left and right, not top and bottom. Do the same with both squares.
Step 4.
Centre the smaller folded square on top of the larger one. Wrap the pipe cleaner around them. Twist the pipe cleaners together at the top to hold together and create antennae
Step 5.
Carefully open the folds to fan out the wings.
You're Done!
Wiggle your finger to make your butterfly flutter-by.
BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE CAT!
Step 6.
Thread the wire through the pipe cleaner and twist to secure. Wind the other end comfortably around your index finger.
